October 12, 2017

Congratulations to Barnard + Columbia Architecture Department Alumnus and former faculty member, Damon Rich, and SCAPE Studio founder, Kate Orff, on receiving 2017 MacArthur Foundation Fellowships!

Damon Rich is the first of Karen Fairbanks’ Department alumni to receive this honor, which is awarded annually to “talented individuals who have shown extraordinary originality and dedication in their creative pursuits.”

Kate Orff is the first Landscape Architect to be awarded a MacArthur “Genius” Grant. Her firm, SCAPE Studio, designed the new Greenpoint Library‘s two rooftop gardens and street-level landscape, the award-winning plaza at Glen Oaks Branch Library, and the recently renovated streetscape at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture.
