About the 8th-annual Archtober month-long celebration of architecture
Archtober is New York City’s Architecture and Design Month, the eighth annual month-long festival of architecture activities, programs and exhibitions taking place during the month of October. Organized by the Center for Architecture in collaboration with 60+ partners and sponsors, the 2018 installment of Archtober gathers events ranging from daily building tours and lectures by design experts, to architecture-themed competitions and parties. Marble Fairbanks has completed construction documents and bidding for POTS and the project is scheduled to start construction in the Spring of 2019. The new building addition will add 50% more space to POTS existing facility and much-needed workspace and educational space
The Beverly Willis Architecture Foundation (BWAF) recently published Built by Women Manhattan 2018 Map, distributed at the AIA Convention in New York City. The map features over 70 projects based exclusively in Manhattan that were designed, engineered, or developed by women. Marble Fairbanks’ renovation and addition at Columbia University, the Toni Stabile Student Center, is included!
Greenpoint Library and Environmental Education Center for Brooklyn Public Library earned a Merit Award from the AIA Brooklyn + Queens Design Awards. The project along with other winners, will be honored at the AIA BQDA Gala on June 27th. View all the winning projects here.
Join Scott on June 19th in Atlanta for a presentation at ARCHITECT magazine‘s Breakthrough Series. Scott and his colleague, Dennis Shelden, will be discussing new initiatives at Georgia Tech School of Architecture to research the spectrum of possibilities for the future of practice; to prepare emerging architects for the next generation of careers; and to engage the local and regional professional, technology, and entrepreneurship communities to establish Atlanta and beyond as an innovation hub of design practice.
