About the 8th-annual Archtober month-long celebration of architecture
Archtober is New York City’s Architecture and Design Month, the eighth annual month-long festival of architecture activities, programs and exhibitions taking place during the month of October. Organized by the Center for Architecture in collaboration with 60+ partners and sponsors, the 2018 installment of Archtober gathers events ranging from daily building tours and lectures by design experts, to architecture-themed competitions and parties. Marble Fairbanks has completed construction documents and bidding for POTS and the project is scheduled to start construction in the Spring of 2019. The new building addition will add 50% more space to POTS existing facility and much-needed workspace and educational space
Colman Hall, a 25,000sf residence hall renovation, won a 2018 Society for American Architects, New York Council Design Award! Inspired by the neighboring industrial sites, the project introduces group lofts to the Lawrence University campus as well as a range of shared social spaces for lounging, studying, communal dining, and more. Marble Fairbanks talked the new Greenpoint Library and gave VR tours of the future building at the Green Design Lab event in Grand Army Plaza. The panel was part of Democracy Lab at the Spacebuster, an inflatable pavilion presented by Brooklyn Public Library, Storefront for Art + Architecture, and others. The Beverly Willis Foundation celebrated the world premiere of Unknown New York: The City that Women Built, a new film by Beverly Willis, FAIA on June 6th.
