Karen Fairbanks delivered the 2013 Distinguished Alumna Lecture at Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning, University of Michigan, on October 4, 2013. She is the 14th recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Award at the College. The event was part of the 2013 Taubman College Reunion Weekend.

What role should economic policy and technological innovation play in our thinking about energy? Are digital simulations and new building systems influencing our capacity to handle new challenges? What are the inter-dependencies between energy-efficient buildings, urban infrastructure, and natural ecosystems?

Join the conversation at this upcoming conference with panel discussions moderated by Scott Marble, David Benjamin, and Craig Schwitter. Keynote addresses will be given by Jeffrey Sachs of The Earth Institute and Matthias Schuler of Transsolar.
