We are delighted to have had the privilege of being sponsors for the AIANY Honors and Awards Luncheon held at Cipriani Wall Street. The event provided the opportunity for us to gather alongside a diverse gathering of architects, industry professionals, and esteemed members of the Honors Committee, all united in celebrating and recognizing the exceptional accomplishments of this year’s AIA award recipients. We extend our congratulations to all the award winners!

We had the pleasure of hosting a high school student, Kelly, in our office as part of the Center for Architecture’s Discover Architecture Program. It was a wonderful experience to have Kelly join us, and we are grateful to the Center for Architecture for making this opportunity possible. We were thrilled that the program was back in person this year, as it allowed us to come together in our office, tour the neighborhood around the office and learn about local architecture, and pay a visit to Greenpoint Library.
We enjoyed getting to know our student, Kelly, and wish her the best of luck as she explores her interest in architecture!
Over the weekend, we hosted before-hours tours of Greenpoint Library and Environmental Education Center as part of OHNY Weekend. The tour was led by Jason Roberts, project architect, and offered a unique look into the 15,000 square foot community library and hub for environmental awareness, activism, and education.
In September, Karen was one of four keynote speakers at the 2022 AIA Iowa National Convention Des Moines. The very generous hosts showed off the stellar modern architecture in the city – one highlight was the 1968 addition to the Des Moines Art Center by I. M. Pei.
Earlier today, our team participated in the Center For Architecture’s Discover Architecture Program for the fourth year in a row. This year, Director Tanya Gershon and Junior Architectural Designer Kristy Cho delved into their personal stories and recalled the distinct paths that led them to a career in architecture. This set the foundation for a discussion with students on how they can transform their interests and passions into a rewarding career. Tanya and Kristy shared advice on how to explore personal interests at the high school level, tips for architecture school, and ways to build experience that can help set the stage for a fulfilling career. We continue to be inspired by the energy and excitement of high school students who are curious about architecture and passionate about their futures. Thank you, CFA, and all the students who participated!
