Digital Provocations is scheduled for April 12-14, 2012 and seeks to explore innovative responses by both practice and academia to how the use of digital technology has evolved in design, collaboration, fabrication and construction processes. Scott will be on the Information & Industry and Ecology & Integrated Design panels, and will be a participant in the Concluding Discussion of the symposium.

On February 25th, Marble Fairbanks opened their new office in DUMBO for the new Open House New York series, openstudios. Over 150 visitors and colleagues toured the studios for this kickoff event.
Marble Fairbanks will be one of twenty-five participating architecture firms that will be opening their offices to the public on Saturday, February 25th 2012 as part of Open House New York’s new series, openstudios. Karen Fairbanks will be presenting Flatform at the Total Enthusiasm 02: Inside Pre-Fab event hosted by the Storefront for Art and Architecture on February 3, 2012. This is a book launch for the release of Inside Prefab: The Ready-made Interior and will last from 7-9pm. The event will explore the evolution of prefabricated interiors from a production of ‘standardized serialism’ to that of ‘endless variations’.

The New York New Work exhibition is up in the West 4th Street subway station, featuring the Glen Oaks Branch Library. The exhibit is sponsored by the AIA New York City and the Center for Architecture and is part of Archtober, the month-long celebration of architecture in New York City. The Toni Stabile Student Center at the Graduate School of Journalism at Columbia University has been named the Archtober building of the day for Friday, October 21st. Scott Marble and Karen Fairbanks will be giving a tour of the project at 12 noon. This is the inaugural year of Archtober, a month-long festival of architecture events in NYC. Public Matters: New York Architecture after 9/11 – an exhibition curated by the Temple Hoyne Buell Center for the Study of American Architecture, Columbia University – will present the Glen Oaks Library by Marble Fairbanks. The exhibition will open September 9 at 5:30pm. The Buell Center will also host a related open table discussion, in which Scott Marble and Karen Fairbanks will participate, on September 12 at 6:30 pm. Karen Fairbanks will be giving the Keynote Lecture for the opening celebration of the new building for the Department of Architecture at the University of Nicosia, Cyprus, on Wednesday, June 8th, 7:00pm.
