The Beverly Willis Foundation celebrated the world premiere of Unknown New York: The City that Women Built, a new film by Beverly Willis, FAIA on June 6th. The film highlights projects throughout Manhattan led by women architects and designers. The film includes projects by Marble Fairbanks led by Karen Fairbanks. Learn more or buy a copy of the film.

Nicholas Desbiens AIA, LEED AP

Nicholas Desbiens, Design Director, joined Marble Fairbanks in 2016, bringing expertise in the integration and customization of digital tools into the design process. As Design Director, Nick ensures that the highest quality of design is realized at all scales of a project – from concept through detailing and construction – and that each project addresses the unique needs of our clients. His work at Marble Fairbanks includes leading the design team for The Women’s Building and the award-winning Greenpoint Library and Environmental Education Center, as well as current projects for Part of the Solution in the Bronx and the Center for Academic Success at Lawrence University in Wisconsin.

Jason Roberts AIA

Jason Roberts, Organization Director, has been a key member of the Marble Fairbanks team since 2012. He has managed projects for clients at Brooklyn Public Library, New York Public Library, Hunter College, Lawrence University, Parsons School of Design, among others, and plays a key role in our development of customized parametric planning techniques best demonstrated in our work for Re-envisioning Branch Libraries. As Organization Director, Jason manages the office building and construction standards, making sure all the key technical criteria and goals are met in the development of a project. He interfaces with the full project team, communicating with consultants, contractors, and clients to deliver design excellence.

Greenpoint Library and Environmental Education Center received a Design Award from the City of New York. All winners will be honored tonight at the 35th Annual Awards for Excellence by Mayor Bill de Blasio. Read the official press release here.

The new Greenpoint Library for Brooklyn Public Library replaces an existing, outdated one-story library, providing significantly enlarged indoor and outdoor space to house everyday library use and programming for the exploration of the environment.
